Nostalgic music, life, school and that country!!
Hi you gems
It is 11.30pm on Sunday 29th April which is rather late to start, but nevermind! I have always loved Renoir's Boating on the Seine so here it is!
I have just been listening to Yosef Islam ( Cat Stevens) on the BBC at a concert in London and I still quite like his music and his lyrics have substance, especially the one on truth. This has come out well with my camara off the t.v.!

This week has been very busy with 2 conferences including a 6th form one, a school trip and a vist to the head to see if she would give me a day off for Burma at half-term! I have a flight for 23rd May at 11am and back on 3rd June which might seem crazy especially as Thuzar might not be in the capital for that week, but God can still close the door if not right as it will be confirmed within the next 12 hours. I somehow think it might be right, but I could be wrong. Time will tell.
I have been at the school for 8 teaching weeks and the poor 6th form are feeling the stress, so thanks to those of you who are praying individually for them. They definately need it. They finish on the 11th May and return on 11th June so will be interesting to see who stays on until A2.
I have been to Salisbury, London loads of times, seen several dear friends and my sister is down soon for the birthday bash. Wow where has the time gone.!As usual I will be celebrating with friends and a trip to the Ritz with sis and those wonderful 2 couples who have been mentioned to much on the blog Ali and John, Val and Ian!! Actually I have been going to the Ritz for 30 years and the other day popped in to check the booking and nip to the loo as I had drank coffee before a demonstration at a nearby Embassy!! How cheeky but fun! I also went with a friend for a cuppa the following week and a complete bargain at £5 for 3-4 cups of tea out a proper silver pot!
I do not know which of you saw the disgraceful events in Turkey where 3 Christians were befriended on the pretext of an interest in Christianity and then killed, mutilated and tortured in horrific attacks that were labelled as "satanic rituals" by the media. With the balance between the secularists and calls for Shariah law there, I think we need to keep watch on events in Turkey.
I am reading Brother Andrew's Light Force which should come with a health warning, as it is SO CHALLENGING. He wrote one of the Christian classics of the 20th century in God's Smuggler and now, in his 70's, is working with some of the key terrorist groups in the world. Last year at Soul Survivor he kept 19,000 young people enthralled and challenged by his message. Radical stuff and so challenging!I know he is a controversial figure but that is great and just what is needed.
I also went to the Albert Hall ( what a great place and such vision from Prince Albert) to hear Handel's Messiah and as we sat behind the choir it was brilliant as the conductor conveyed so much. I tried to catch the attention of a friend on the front row of the choir but to no avail, so I feel my cultural tanks have been filled, although I still miss the theatre. I also want to see the Painted Veil with Edward Norton and 2 others that I saw in London yesterday e.gOther people??
I am trying to be creative with the card and metal tokens!!
I must go now as it is now 12.40 am and I am seeing someone tomorrow who has been in Canada for 10 months. I met her in a "divine appointment" last year at Soul Survivor ( the one from Malaysia and on an old blog) So all those people working tomorrow have fun!! Ha ha.
I also ordered Sebastian Knupfler's CD for £8 including p and p from the States. Amazing. Now I am after Alisdair McIntyre's "Intellectuals don't need God and other myths" ( even the title will annoy some of you!!).
One or two of you have particularly been on my mind so hope you are ok.
Much love of course, FLiss xxx
