Fliss's cool purple heart shoes!! 30th Sept

Hi you complete gems

Here is one of my wonderful purple shoes with hearts on!!!! How cool am I!!!
It is now the end of the month and what a great one it has been. I am still so grateful for the time and, even without working, there is so much I want to do and still haven't done.

Last Saturday I went to a conference in London at St Mary's in Marylebone to hear Michael Ramsden and his wife Ann Ewing-Orr who work for the Zacharias Trust in Oxford. They were excellent and would be great for 6th form conferences. Several books by the founder Ravi Zacharias really appeal particularly one on Jesus talking to the Buddha which would have been great for Burma.

I also picked up two excellent philosophy books in Oxfam on the way back for almost nothing and probably saved around £25.oo.I still want to keep the background reading up which I did on the A level course but I also want to try and learn Burmese, read lots of stuff I have never had time to do( eg a book on tolerance by Josh McDowell, some of the classics and a book on women by the Eldredges ( the same guy who wrote Waking the Dead which I raved about recently), read my Bible and spend time with God as well as keep my social life going!! I need wisdom and definitely feel structure to the day has been crucial.

Tomorrow I will gatecrash the Christian Lawyers Breakfast and Prayer meeting in Lincoln in Fields. What a great place. We will meet for breakfast in Chancery Lane which is full of wine bars and some places to eat. I am also going to the Grove for a drink tonight for the first time since being back. So you will be pleased to know my social life still continues and I never had any doubts it wouldn't. Ok some of you are thinking she won't say that when the money runs out!! We will see.

Of course I can see me doing a fill in job however menial that might be until the "right job" presents itself. So packing boxes etc might be on the horizon and yes I will get bored and I will be puzzled but all will be well in the end. Nothing will be wasted. I have been to the Job centre, frozen my pension and have got the TES. I might do some work for CSW too who are based in Surrey and are an amazing organisation.

Last Saturday I happened to see a job for HOD at QE school in Barnet which is a girl's school. Frying pan into fire comes to mind!!On the Sunday at Soul Survivor there were about 300 young people at the service. I felt God gave me two things for a young girl I had not seen in my life. When I gave them to her it turned out she had just left QE in Barnet!! Some of us as Christians can be such a pain about guidance sometimes. We pray for direction, go to the fridge and see the orange is from Jamaica and think God must be saying go to J!! Sorry all you Christians but it is SO HARD SOMETIMES TO KNOW. Is this a sign or red herring or pure co-incidence? I feel I want to sort out and apply but as I am drinking coffee here I may loose the momentum!!! I went to the Job centre too today and I know there is a job at Clement Danes for 2 terms in R.S. but not sure I want to teach it anymore. Do not know what I want in terms of a job.

I have also had coffee with a dear friend on Tuesday ( Asda did a deal when my Philosophy students were drinking it and were selling two for one. i KNOW I need to learn how to do a template. I am sure you will all get bored with it .....

The Archbishop of Canterbury is coming to Soul Survivor on Sunday and the pastor Mike Pilavachi is keen that we do not get chucked out of the Anglican Church so we will be very good!! We can meet him at 5pm for tea and he intrigues me so I might. He is doing a question and answer session in the evening which should be good and we can ask anything. Last Sunday I went and there were 300 young people there in the evening. I felt quite choked just watching them all. The music was awesome.

I have had the Watford Chaplaincy on my mid for about a month so need to follow that lead. I have just followed it and met with the Chaplain today and now will apply. It is voluntary but I am going with this......I have also asked a friend in a local college if I can sit in on some sessions so that might be arranged and will leave it with her.

My biscuit intake on Wednesday was terrible as I was trying to sort out blog and getting frustrated with it. Thursday was fat reduced croissant with Ruth who does a brilliant job as one of the Pastors of Soul Survivor - chilled, giving to loads of us, great listener and wise. I loaded the margerine on and she was very disciplined and had jam. If ANYONE still wants to read these blogs you must be sad! Who on earth is interested in Fliss eating croissants!!!!

When I wrote to the wonderful Mary (married to David ex vicar of Chorleywood and ex Bishop of Chile, Bolivia and Peru!! and she took 4 young children out there when they lived in Chile!! ) she said the following:

1 What makes your heart sing? 2 What are the gifts( writing pathetic blogs!!)God has given you?

3 Where are they going to be best used? 4 ) Has God given you a recurring dream? ( Yes married to Burmese George Clooney look a like, living in a 3 storey house with a wine cellar and loaded!!!) 5 What is on God's heart that makes your heart sing? Naturally I am taking all these into account.

Enjoy the weekend. Any wine recommendations do pass then on.

Much love you wonderful people

Fliss x x
